Many scholarships, however, have specific requirements, such as exhibiting interest in helping a certain community or having a specified citizenship or residence status.

List of Medical Schools Scholarships.

1.     The Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship:

This Scholarship from established in 2004 by the NHHF for medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy, public health, and health policy students with outstanding academic records, leadership, and a commitment to serving Hispanics.

NHHF has given $1,555,000 to 306 grantees as of January 2021.

This year’s scholarship will include a three-year reward of up to $5,000, as well as individual scholarships of $2,000 each.

Eligibility Requirements – Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸It is unnecessary for applicants to be Hispanic, but they must have a “passion for the health of Hispanic populations and a desire to take part in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities.”

▸In addition, applicants must be premier members of the National Hispanic Medical Association.

▸Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

▸Must be U.S. permanent residents, citizens, and DACA recipients are eligible.

  • The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program:

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program (SP) provides financial help to students seeking primary care health professions training with a promise to deliver primary health care in a Health Professional Shortage Area.

Eligibility Requirements for Medical Schools Scholarships :

▸Students must be enrolled in classes to prepare for careers in primary care and be willing to work in disadvantaged regions after graduation.

4. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans:

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans assist thirty new Americans, immigrants or their children, who are pursuing graduate education in the United States each year.

Eligibility Requirements for Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸Students must be under 30 years old and be the child of parents born outside of the U.S as non-U.S. citizens.

▸You should intend to enroll full-time for the whole 2023-24 academic year in an approved, recognized professional or graduate degree program at a US university.

▸There are no age restrictions.

  • Edith SeVille Coale Scholarship:

The Zonta Club of Washington, D.C. established the first medical scholarship in 1965, thanks to the generosity and forethought of Dr. Edith SeVille Coale, and has since paid over $1.3 million to meritorious winners.

Edith SeVille Coale was born in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1878. She began her long and successful medical career in Washington, DC, in 1913.

In 1923, she was elected to the Zonta Club of Washington, D.C., where she served as President from 1933 to 1934.

Dr. Coale’s will stipulated that most of her wealth be used to fund scholarships for female medical students administered by the Zonta Club of Washington, D.C.

Eligibility Requirements for Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸Women beginning their second or third year in medical school.

▸Academic performance must be significantly above average.

Amount: Varies between $5,000 to $8,000.

6. Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh:

The MSc Internal Medicine and MSc Critical Care are part-time online learning programs offered in collaboration with the College by the University of Edinburgh.

Our scholarships help bright students pursue either an MSc or a Ph.D.

Eligibility Requirements for Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸Be self-sufficient (support from friends and relatives is acceptable).

▸Be a citizen of one of the qualified countries.

▸Have been accepted onto the MSc Internal Medicine or MSc Critical Care medical.

▸Applicants must have firm status at the time of submission and have paid the University deposit.

RCPE will not reimburse scholarship winners the deposit paid to the University.

The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) established this scholarship in 2021 to fund medical students who has shown an interest in improving health equality by closing the Black maternal mortality gap.

Eligibility for Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸Must be African American/Black, Afro-Latino, Cambodian, Caribbean, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, or Native American/Black. 

▸Gender: male or female

8. BoardVitals Medical School Scholarship:

BoardVitals is dedicated to assisting students in completing their medical education and making a positive difference in their area after graduation.

This session three scholarships will be awarded to the tune of $2,000, $1,000, and $500 to three medical students in good academic standing who are passionate about the influence of experience on novel insights in medicine.

9. National Medical Fellowships’ Scholarships:

National Medical Fellowships, Inc. (NMF) is the only national organization committed completely to give scholarships and support to medical and health professions students in the healthcare field.

NMF’s curriculum was expanded in 2020 to give training and support for diverse physicians to be more actively take part in clinical trials, ensuring continuing health fairness.

NMF’s mission is to find and develop tomorrow’s diverse healthcare leaders, who will possess the knowledge, skills, cultural competency, and dedication necessary to achieve health fairness.

Eligibility Requirements for Medical Schools Scholarships:

▸Proof of citizenship in the United States or a letter approving Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

▸Currently enrolled in a graduate-level healthcare program in the United States.

▸African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian American (Vietnamese and Cambodian only).

Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander are among the racial/ethnic groups underrepresented in medicine, according to the NMF.

▸Demonstrated leadership ability.

▸Commitment to helping populations that are medically underserved.

10. AAMC Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarships

These scholarships are granted to five excellent third-year medical students who have shown leadership in initiatives to address inequality in medical education and health care.

They should also have shown initiative in addressing racial and ethnic minorities’ educational, social, and health-care concerns in the United States. A $5,000 scholarship is awarded to each winner.

Reflections on Diversity and Inclusion in Academic Medicine, which marks the 15th anniversary of the Nickens Award, tells the story of Dr. Herbert W. Nickens’ contributions to academic medicine.

Eligibility Requirement:

▸This scholarship is for students entering their third year of medical school who have “shown leadership in efforts to eliminate inequities in medical education and health care.

▸They also should have shown leadership initiative in addressing the educational, societal, and health care needs of racial and ethnic minorities in the United States.

▸Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients.

Dollar amount: $5,000

11. The Brown Medical and Educational Society Healthcare Scholarships

The Brown Medical and Educational (MAE) Foundation was established in honor of Dr. Monica Brown’s late mother Mae Brown.

The Norman Brown scholarship is named after Dr. Brown’s father, Norman Brown.

Eligibility Requirements:

▸You must be an undergraduate or graduate student seeking a degree in healthcare, such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, or allied health, at a four-year college or university in the United States (PT, OT).

▸Must be Black/African American, Native American/American Indian, Hispanic/Latin American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic/Latin American. Citizenship in the United States is necessary.

▸Applicant must have a cumulative equivalent GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4 point scale.
